Welcome Message from the President
of the Asian Society Against Dementia (ASAD)

On behalf of the Executive Committee and Advisors of the Asian Society Against Dementia, I warmly invite you to join us for the 19th International Conference of ASAD which is held in conjunction with the International Conference of the Korean Dementia Association 2025, at Seoul from 8th to 10th May 2025.

The objectives of ASAD are to promote and encourage the advancement of scientific knowledge through research and practice in all aspects of dementia, as well as the exchange and dissemination of this knowledge and expertise throughout Asia. This has been achieved in annual conferences which have been held in different parts of Asia since the first meeting in Chennai in 2007. It wonderful to return to Korea as the 2009 conference was held in Seoul.

Advances in biomarker-based diagnostics, recent approval of disease modifying treatments for early Alzheimer's disease (AD) and late-stage clinical development of other therapies for AD necessitate a significant paradigm shift in the early detection, diagnosis and management of AD. Growing recognition of the benefit of early interventions in AD, may lead to an increasing number of people seeking diagnosis for early cognitive problems in an already busy medical system, hence a new model of care will be required. Education and training will be the cornerstone for the establishment of new pathways of care for the identification of patients with early AD and delivery of anti-amyloid therapies in a safe and efficient manner to eligible patients. These and many other topics will be part of this exciting conference and I hope that we can meet together soon in Seoul!
